ADHD or Autism diagnosis – getting an assessment for

If you think you might have ADHD or Autism and you want to have an assessment here is some information about services and how we can support you.

Adults

Currently the Leeds Adult NHS service for ADHD is closed for referrals.

You can self refer to the Leeds Autism Diagnostic service (NHS). There is upto date information about wait time s on their website.

There are several providers who you can see for an assessment under the right to choose pathway.

This website keeps a good summary of different providers for both ADHD and Autism assessments and their wait times:

Actions for you to take:

  1. Please book a GP appointment to discuss your symptoms, how they are affecting you and whether a referral is appropriate.
  2. If you wish to be referred please choose your preferred provider and then check if they require you to do a self assessment form. If they do please do this before your GP appointment and email it to the practice or bring it to your GP appointment.

Children

To access an NHS assessment for ADHD or Autism please go through MIndmate – you or your parent can do the referral or it can be done by a GP. They also offer advice and support which may be useful.

The NHS wait for assessment is several years so you may want to consider the right to choose pathway as an alternative.
