Repeat medication

When your doctor prescribes you the some medication on an ongoing basis, this is done with a repeat prescription. This is an instruction from your doctor that you can be issued this medication at agreed intervals without an appointment. You will need at have a medication review at agreed period which will be least once a year.

When to order your repeat medication

Please plan ahead so you do not run out of your medication. We advise you to request your repeat medication when you have one weeks supply left. We require a minimum period of 2 working days to process your request. We issue 1000s of repeat prescriptions every week, and each one needs care and attention.

I have run out, or am about to run out, of my medication what do I do?

Please make your repeat request as usual – it will take 2 working days to be issued.

All medication works best if taken as prescribed. We encourage you to allow enough time when placing your request so you do not run out. We have worked with our pharmacists to construct a defined list of medication that could cause harm if doses are missed. Only medication on this list may be issued as “urgent” on the day. All other medications will require the 2 working days to be processed, even if this means you have to miss a couple of days. These other medications take time to work their way out of your system so no harm will come.

• Adrenaline auto-injector pens (EG EpiPen, Emerade)
• Anticipatory/palliative care medication
• End of life medicines
• Anti-depressants: all
• Anti-psychotics / Lithium
• Asthma inhalers
• Epilepsy medication
• Gender dysphoria – all medications
• GTN spray
• HRT – all medications
• Hydrocortisone tablets
• Insulin
• Low molecular weight heparins
• Parkinsons’ medications (EG Co-beneldopa/Levodopa)
• Prednisolone
• Warfarin

If your medicine is not listed here then we will issue following our usual process: 2 working days Thank-you for your understanding.
