Payscale: £9,935 per session pa for newly qualified, rising up to £10,708 per session pa when 7 years + NHS qualified
We are seeking a salaried GP with strong clinical and leadership skills to join our democratic and forward-thinking practice. We’d like you to bring a commitment to serve our varied practice population, and you will have the opportunity to play a full role in all aspects of the practice.
We are a co-operative team, meeting daily for mutual support. We want all our clinicians to have a good work-life balance and an enjoyable working day.
St Martin is an urban training practice, caring for a patient list of 7700. Excellent QOF and target achievement and a track record of innovation. Special interests: addressing health inequalities; substance misuse; clinical education & training. 5 partners, excellent nursing team, using an Appointment Hub model for GP access with excellent support to duty doctor from non clinical Care Navigators. Wide range of attached staff and services. Active member of Chapeltown PCN.

Qualifications & eligibility - essential attributes
- Qualifications: MRCGP. Vocational training certificate or equivalent JCPTGP. GP CCT.
- Eligibility: GMC registration. On national performers list. Eligibility to practice in the UK indefinitely.

Experience - essential attributes
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit
- Experience of working with patients from areas of social deprivation and/or health inequality
Experience - desirable attributes
- Experience of employment as a qualified GP
- Proven experience in generating and leading the implementation of improvement initiatives or change projects e.g. changes to services, pathways or working arrangements

Salaried GPs: standard job plan
- Standard clinical session: 8 x 15 mins f2f appts, and 3 x 10 min phone appts.
- Home visits (according to agreed rota)
- Fair share of duty doctor rota
- We operate a “modern General Practice” model: all incoming requests for GP appts come via online form for scrutiny in Appointment hub.
- Repeat px queries and (according to agreed rota).
- Process and action incoming clinical correspondence according to practice protocol including working with our Clinical Services Team who processs / code all clinical correspondence
- Be results buddy for your named GP buddy when they are on leave or day off
- Referrals following agreed practice procedures
- Maintaining your knowledge of, and liaising with, all relevant local health and care services including those provided by the hospital trust, community trust and the 3rd sector
- Record keeping to recognised standards
- Taking responsibility for the continuing and on-going care of patients, seeing cases through to conclusion
- To work as part of the practice team to ensure continuous quality improvement, audit, the improvement of systems and care management
- Attending and participating in practice meetings including practice meeting, clinical meeting and full primary healthcare team meeting
- Writing medical reports as required within the standard practice timescales
- Authorising release of medical records under SARs legislation, and authorising patient online access to complete medical record
- Debrief registrars. Play a role where needed in medical student education.

Session rate

Defence fees, and pension contributions paid on top of the above
Medical insurance
Paid by the practice for those sessions worked at the practice
Probation period
Six month probation with reviews at 1, 3 and 6 months
Pension
Will be auto-enrolled into NHS pension scheme from day 1
Annual leave
6 weeks pa pro rota, plus a pro rata allowance for bank holidays.
Study leave
As per BMA guidelines, which is 4 hrs pw for a 9 session GP , pro rata
(of which 1 week per annum pro rata may be booked, the rest allocated)
Sick leave
6 months full pay, 6 months half pay
Maternity / paternity leave
- Provided you have 6 months of continuous service with St Martin’s Practice at the beginning of the 11th week before the expected week of childbirth, and return to work at St Martin’s Practice after your maternity leave for at least 6 months:
- 100% of pay for 8 / 52
- 50% of pay plus SMP for next 14 / 52
- Statutory maternity pay for next 17 / 52
